Open Job Descriptions | Parents, we need your help!
Parents and volunteers, we need your help with pack event planning! Please see the following job descriptions and let us know if you can help us out with this. Most of these positions do not take that much time if they are spread out among the parents of our pack. Please volunteer and help make this year a great one for your boys.

Advancement Chairman
Purchase awards, patches, etc. (This includes awards for the adults as well)
You can purchase at the Scout Shop in Bethesda. (It’s on the corner of 355 & Cedar Lane). Get reimbursed by Treasurer.
We give out awards at most pack meetings, this is a monthly job.
You will need to check with each Den Leader to see what is needed.
Keep track of existing inventory of awards.
May need to fill out paperwork at the Scout Shop to order/purchase some
awards (ranks patches and so forth). Check online for paperwork.
Assistant CubMaster
Fill in for the Cub Master when he cannot attend a pack meeting.
Act as a “Utility Infielder” at pack planning meetings.
Attend occasional District roundtable meetings, to hear all the news from on
high.
Blue & Gold Lead
Blue & Gold banquet is the pack-wide awards dinner in February. This is a
major undertaking, and is best seen as a team.
Planning should begin as early as September at least by reserving the space
and lining up entertainment. (Other items can wait until December & January)
Needs to reserve the venue. (Damascus ES Cafeteria) You will need to attend
MCPS Community Use of Public Facilities training class in downtown
Rockville for 1 hour. Note: If we want to use an MCPS facility, window for
February reservations open in July. Decision needs to be earlier rather than
later to assure our DES location.
Organize the pack-wide sign up for pot luck supper.
Organize the cake-decorating competition, including ribbons/prizes if needed.
Provide drinks, paper products.
Produce the program to be handed out after deciding on the program sequence!
Organize special awards for the adult leaders and other key volunteers.
Damascus Day Parade Lead
The Damascus Day Parade is always the Friday after Independence Day. It
runs from the parking lot of Damascus HS to the Fire Dept. Activity
Building on Lewis Drive.
Need to contact organizer of the Damascus Day Parade and enter us.
Find out what position number we are in the parade at least several days in
advance, so we can let everyone know by email where to meet in the
Damascus HS parking lot.
Order little American Flags from orientaltrading.com to hand out.
Perhaps 1000 or so, but check with Mike Barber: take the number he
ordered for the 2011 parade, and double it.
Day Camp Lead
In charge of the pack’s attendance at summer day camp.
(This is run at the Damascus Izaak Walton League)
Needs to fill out online registration forms at boyscouts-ncac.org.
Needs to ensure we have enough adult den walkers.
Family Campout Lead
In charge of the pack-wide campout trip to Little Bennett Regional Park.
Trip is always the first weekend in October.
Needs to make announcement at the June pack meeting, and follow up by
email over the summer.
Needs to reserve campsites via www.littlebennettcampground.com
(Can do so no earlier than June.)
Needs to contact families to get head count in early August.
Needs to pay registration fee online, and is reimbursed by the pack
Treasurer. Families then pay the Treasurer.
Fishing Derby Lead
Needs to contact Susanna Farm Nursery in June to ask permission.

Keys Campout Lead
In charge of the pack-wide family campout trip to the Frederick Keys stadium.
Trip is generally in the last weekend of June.
Needs to check the Keys website for updated details in early May (It’s called
Scout Night on their website)
Needs to get a sign-up list (either on paper or via email) no later than the June
pack meeting.
Needs to order the tickets, and is reimbursed by the pack Treasurer. Families
then pay the Treasurer. If you are ordering tickets that close to the game it
might be easier to be reimbursed directly by the parents. That’s what happened
last year.
Pinewood Derby Lead
Organize the pack cut out your car nights in the weeks preceding the race.
Reserve the Venue - Damascus Recreation Center.
Order trophies a few weeks in advance (Jerry’s Trophies in Mt. Airy). Pack
Treasurer will reimburse.
Move track from storage shed at St. Paul’s to the Venue and assemble track to
make sure is working.
Organize weigh – in
Test the software ahead of time.
Run the race.
Disassemble track and return to storage.
Popcorn Kernel
Attend training classes.
Contact Milestone Giant & Damascus Safeway to reserve sales dates and
times.
Pre-order some inventory for boys who want to sell door to door.
Needs to pick up or arrange to have popcorn picked up, store, & distributed.
Keep track of each boy’s sales, to award prizes.
Run the pie – in – the – face – party.
Registrar
Ensure that all adult leaders are up to date on their training requirements.
(Youth protection training should be up to date, needs to be renewed
every two years.
Re-charting should start in October. Deadline for completing the re-
charting package is December 31, 2011
Enter the boy’s and adults’ data online to aid in the pack’s re-chartering
process in January.
Pack Master software is required for the re-chartering process.

Tiger Den Lead
Organize the Tiger Cub den meetings.
Decide what achievement will be done when.
Decide who will be going to help with each achievement, Go see it trip, etc.
Sign off on each boy’s book.
Report progress at pack meetings and awards beads.
Attend pack planning meetings.
Treasurer
Keep the books.
Reimburse others’ expenses.
Run the cake raffle.
Treasurer should be at all committee meetings.
