Pictures from 2004-5 events Our hometown has a parade every July (though not necessarily on the Fourth). We were there to show our pride.
Every year, our Webelos go to an overnight camp in western Pennsylvania called Heritage Scout Reservation. Our younger boys go to the Cub Scout day camp run by the local Boy Scout district.
Every August, our pack has a fishing derby at a pond in Damascus.
Our Wolf den got to go horseback riding in Damascus.
The Blue & Gold Banquet is the annual award ceremony each Cub Scout pack puts on. Ours was in February, in the cafeteria of Damascus Elementary School. Our Tiger Cub den led the flag ceremony, and we had awards for the best cakes that people brought for dessert!
Just for fun, we visited the new Steven F. Udvar-Hazy annex to the National Air & Space Museum on March 5th 2005. We had a blast! (get it? blast--blast off?)
The Pinewood Derby is one of the most popular Cub Scout events of the year. We had ours in March, at the Damascus Elementary School cafeteria. We had a pack power tool night to help the boys who didn't have tools at home.
We took a quick trip to Mount Airy, Maryland, to go duckpin bowling. Duckpin is a lot harder than ordinary bowling because the pins are a lot smaller. Practically everyone in the pack earned the bowling belt loop!
The Tiger Cub den built model rocket kits and launched them this May. Our Den Chief (a Boy Scout who helps lead the Cubs) came along too.
The Raingutter Regatta is like a floating Pinewood Derby. It's much easier to build the sailboats than to build Pinewood cars, but it's quite tricky to blow them to the finish line!
